  • Published: 4th January 2025

We are delighted to announce that Graeme Groom, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, King’s College Hospital, Co-Chair of IDEALS and founder Trustee of Rebuild, has been honoured in His Majesty’s New Years Honours.

Graeme has been awarded the Companion of St Michael’s and St George (CMG) for giving exceptional and sustained service to health in disaster zones and conflict areas overseas.

The citation reads:

“For over 20 years, Mr Graeme Groom has tirelessly given his free time and expertise to performing trauma surgery, limb reconstruction, and systematic training of doctors in conflict areas most recently in Gaza where he has visited over 40 times in the last decade.”

Graeme is a senior member of the BLRS and was a member of our predecessor CFUG.
